Replace all section breaks with page breaks. Double click in the header area on the first page. You see document in the Headers and Footers editing mode. Then click Header > Remove header. If headers still exist on odd pages, double click in the header area on an odd page. Then click Header > Remove header. The code removes the headers and footers from the files. Then it adds a header from an image file on my desktop. Both these portions have worked fine, its when I add the footer that it will only apply the footer to the first page and not the whole document which is the opposite of what I am trying to do.
Open Microsoft Word. Open the document on which you want to delete all headers and footers. You can do this by selecting “File” and then “Open” from the menu. Double-click on the document to open it. Select “Header and Footer” from the “View” menu.

This opens headers and footers so you can edit or delete them. Position the pointer over a header or footer and left click the mouse button. This positions the cursor in the selected header or footer. Select the text and any other objects in the header or footer and press “Delete.” 6. Continue to position the cursor in headers and footers, selecting text and pressing “Delete” until all of the headers and footers are deleted.
You may select “Show Previous” and “Show Next” to check for different footers and headers in different sections of the document. You must delete them separately. After you've deleted all the headers and footers, select “Close Header and Footer” to return to the normal document editing view.
Double click the top of the document to edit the header and footer, see screenshot: 2. Remove the header and footer by press Backspace button. You can see all the headers and footers are removed. Click Insert Header Remove Header to remove all headers.
Click Insert Footer Remove Footer to remove all footers. Remove all multiple headers and footers If your document has divided into several sections, and every section has each header, you can remove them by following methods: Method 1 1. Double click the top of the document to edit the header and footer, see screenshot: 2. Put the cursor on the Header 2 in section 2 and click Design and check Link to Previous. See screenshot: 3. Repeat the step 2 to disable the Link to Previous option.
Then select one header and press Backspace to delete it, and all the headers are remove at the same time. See screenshot: 4. Repeat the above steps to remove all footers. Put the cursor on the section 1, and click Insert Header Remove Header to remove the headers in section 1. See screenshot: 2. Then repeat step 1 to delete the headers in section 2. Put the cursor on the section 1 and click Insert Footer Remove Footer to remove the footers in section 1.
See screenshot: 4. Then repeat step 3 to delete the footers in section 2. Click File Check for Issues Inspect Document, see screenshot: 2. Make sure that the Headers, Footers and Watermarks option is checked, and the other options are unchecked. Then click Inspect button. See screenshot: 3.

And then click Remove All button in the following dialog. See screenshot: 4. Close the Document Inspector dialog. Note: If there are watermarks in the document will be removed, too.
